We took a trip to the Beijing Zoo to see the panda's
This was one of the large adults, all of whom were very sleepy in the heat of the day.
We also saw the young 2-year olds
Sorry for the picture quality, but they were behind some rather dirty glass. They were very busy eating bamboo shoots and rolling around. We also saw penguins, monkeys of all sorts, water fowl and something called a lesser panda, which looked large a large, brown racoon.
Emma really enjoyed souvenir shopping, and will likely have to buy another suitcase to carry this home:
The opening ceremonies were amazing. The Birdsnest was full to capacity, and the noise and spectacle were something to behold.
It was a very proud moment as a Canadian. Drew and the rest of the swim team did not participate in the opening ceremonies (except for Canada's flag bearer, Donavon Tildesley), as they begin swimming in the morning.

Leslie! I only met Drew once (about 5 years ago) and can't believe how tall he is now! Sounds like he's enjoying the racing very much and doing well!Looks like you all are having a fabulous time...will enjoy to hear more about your exploits in Beijing when you're back home.
